Betsy Buckner has been a resident of Evergreen for 18 years and a professional artist for 15. At the age of 40 after being strongly influenced by a sales/design position in a local fine art gallery she decided to go back to school to study Fine Art/Painting, and has been fulfilling her dream of creating for a living ever since.
Quite exciting for her is the fact that both her adult sons are following in her footsteps. One is an Illustrator/Painter and the other a Music Composer/Painter.
Betsy has studied:
Abroad in Italy;
At the University of Colorado Denver;
With the Arts Student League of Denver; at Ghost Ranch, Abiquiu, NM;
At Anderson Ranch, Aspen, CO;
At Taos School of the Arts, Taos, NM;
Foothills Art Center, Golden, CO;
And more recently at the Andreeva Portrait Academy, Santa Fe, NM.
Each of her paintings strives to capture her emotions of the moment.
Simplistic, yet vibrant, hurried but planned, musical, expressive strokes are all characteristics of her style.
