Gus Cantavero, born and raised in Connecticut started out as a photographer at the age of 15 and began working professionally by 18. After graduating from Purchase College, SUNY and working as a freelance photographer for several years he purchased the groundbreaking Canon 5d Mark II which for the first time allowed the production of cinematic HD video and opened up many creative possibilities. He began dabbling in filmmaking by producing short promotional films for local businesses and event videography. In 2013 he released his first self produced, feature length documentary “A Drop of Water”, a story about a christian orphanage in Cambodia which started his career as a full time filmmaker. Since then he has filmed several more projects in Asia and produced many videos for non-profits, education/university, corporate, financial and advertising clients.
Specializing in crafting stories with heart he is interested in traveling the world to find the stories worth telling and even when dealing with the seemingly mundane he works hard to find the right angle to draw out the emotion and engage audiences.
He is based in Denver and New York. He loves the outdoors, hiking, traveling and exploring new places and cultures.
